Love You from a Gnome! Using Dies as Stencils! Video!

This card is simple and uses an old school technique. Use a die as a stencil!

I saw a card months ago and it reminding me of that technique. I wanted to try it again! The first card I did was the Sweet Christmas card you can see here:

Sweet Christmas

I then started doing it on tons of cards. I love the technique and it’s so easy! Here’s my video (you’ll see lots of cards in this, including ones I’ve never shown):

For this card, I used Sweet Sorbet and Calypso Coral with Blending Brushes for the hearts. I also covered the small hearts with the Wink of Stella.

The sentiment is from the Kindest Gnomes stamp set.

For the Gnome, I colored him with Calypso, Sorbet, Balmy Blue and Medium Light Blends.

I scored a few lines around the edges with the Scored Tool.

3 Turtles Say Hi!

On this card, just about everything is from the Rain or Shine DSP!

I used the dies to cut out the turtles from a piece of the DSP. On the paper, a few of the animals on the sides are cut off, not the full animal. My middle turtle was one of those, so I die cut several pieces of grass (also from the Playing in the Rain dies) to cover up his missing legs.

The background paper is also from the Rain or Shine DSP. It’s one of the best DSP I’ve ever seen!

I love the Alphabet a La Mode dies! Tall skinny letters! I die cut the “hi!” with Old Olive cardstock.

A pretty quick card! No stamping!

Here’s what I used:

Playing in the Rain with a Few Friends!

The Rain or Shine DSP that coordinates with the Playing in the Rain bundle (page 50-51 in the mini) is absolutely fantastic. It has some UV coating on most of the papers. The rain paper on the background is shiny. The animals clothes and other things are shiny. I love it!

There is one paper in the DSP that you can die cut the animals with the Playing in the Rain dies. There’s another sheet of animals, the one I used on this card, but they’re not die cuttable. I do have a cutting machine, Brother Scan N Cut, but I did fussy cut some of these guys too.

The sentiment is from the Playing in the Rain stamp set. I stamped with Versamark and then embossed with white powder. I die cut it with Stylish Shapes, and die cut two more shapes to layer behind it.

The grass was made with the Basic Borders dies.

I have made 5 cards with the Rain or Shine suite, including this one. Check back! I’ll post the others soon!

Owls with a Sundae!

I was looking at the Adorable Owls stamps trying to think of a card. The Share a Milkshake bundle was on my desk. Ding ding! I want those owls to look like they like each other and share a sundae!

I did some reverse stamping so the owls would look like they’re facing each other.

The dies and stamps on this card from Share a Milkshake bundle are:

  • The spoons (stamped with Versamark and used silver embossing powder)
  • The sundae (the bottom was stamped with Orchid Oasis and die cut, the top was die cut using Pearlescent paper. I used a Blending Brush with Sweet Sorbet ink to give it a little color)
  • The die cuts behind the sentiment.
  • The sentiment is from the stamp set; I die cut it with Stitched Rectangles.

The Owls were colored with Light Smoky Slate Blends and Pool Party Blends. Their bows are Orchid Oasis and Sweet Sorbet.

Only two more days! Then you can earn those cute owls for free!

Look at that Shiny Lantern!

If you watched my video of me opening my box of new stuff, I opened the Lighting the Way dies to show you the lantern die. Here he is!

All dies and stamps are from the Lighting the Way Bundle- page 18 of the new mini.

I first used my Blending Brushes for the background. I then flicked my Wink of Stella to give some drops of shiny white.

I die cut the lantern with the Copper Foil paper.

The sentiment is also from the Lighting the Way stamp set. I stamped with Versamark and then embossed with Copper powder.
